I, Mark Austin, am the owner/instructor of Cutting Edge Martial Arts. I have been teaching martial arts since 2004 and possesses the ranks of 2nd Kyu in Jundokan Goju-ryu Karate and 3rd Dan in Kukkiwon/WTF Olympic Taekwondo, with an honorary 1st Dan in Aikijujutsu, as well as years of training in Aikido, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Krav Maga, Tai Chi, and a smattering of other martial arts.

I was assistant instructor at Taekwondo West in Bozeman, MT from 2005-2010, at which point I became manager and primary instructor. In late 2011 I began teaching Taekwondo in Big Sky, MT and in June 2013 opened a second Cutting Edge Martial Arts School in Bozeman.

I also graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Computer Science from Gonzaga University in 2004. Aside from martial arts, I enjoy reading and writing a wide variety of material, and designing/programming video and board games.

Why Us

...and why martial arts? Short answer: making better, more well rounded people. Martial Arts changed my life, not just in physical strength, dexterity, and combat skills, but in emotional stability, compassion, patience, confidence, determination, commitment, responsibility, and more than I have room to list here.

While teaching the physical martial arts might be all that seems to be happening on the surface, helping students find and refine those internal qualities in themselves is the benefit that will hopefully stay with them their whole lives, regardless of how much time they spend engaged in active martial arts practice. It is for that purpose that I teach martial arts.
